Forgotten Children’s Festival

Join Voices For Children Foundation as we remember the fact that every day 850 of our nation’s children silently enter an intimidating and unfamiliar Foster Care System.
That is 6 children a day in Miami-Dade County alone.

The Forgotten Children’s Festival is a half-day event that begins with a march and followed by a Festival - a free event which provides a morning of entertainment for families, such as face-painting, pony rides, art displays and relay races.

In 2009, Voices For Children proudly hosted National CASA’s The Forgotten Children Campaign. Endorsed by Dr. Phil and Cold Case’s Danny Pino, this event brought awareness and support to those who are “lost and forgotten” within America’s foster care system. There are 850 children entering an intimidating and unfamiliar foster care system every single day in the United States. In honor of these children, 850 life-sized cut-outs of children were displayed in downtown Miami, each holding a real message from a foster youth currently in the system. On September 12th, 2009, our community showed their support for these children by attending a public march holding these 850 cut-outs.

Following this public march and rally, participants enjoyed A Children’s Celebration, a free public event designed to increase awareness about the lives and experiences of abused, abandoned, and neglected children through their own creative works such as art, photography, poetry, and music.
